Prenatal follow-up

Postnatal care

Practical

Being pregnant is a period with many changes and questions. If you want to be well informed, prepared and guided, I would very much like to do this as a midwife. Together I will guide you through the

pregnancy guides and provided with information and medical

succession.

You can expect the following details during your prenatal period

follow-up:

  • Taking weight and blood pressure

  • Determining the position of the baby from 28 weeks

  • Determining your uterus height to monitor your baby's growth

  • Listening to the heart sounds (from 12 weeks of pregnancy)

  • Blood collection, urine check if necessary

  • provide information in preparation for the next stage of pregnancy

In addition to all this, a medical file will be drawn up for follow-up and my listening ear is always present.

Can you leave the hospital (quickly) and do you need further medical follow-up? Would you like to be guided at home by a midwife to reassure you, provide medical follow-up for mother and baby, and receive information about new parenthood and life?

You can certainly expect the following when you return home:

  • Medical follow-up of the mother

  • Medical follow-up of the baby

  • Blood collection from baby between 72 and 96 hours i.e. Guthrie test (metabolic disorders)

  • Guidance and advice in caring for the baby, e.g. baby bath

  • Guidance and advice on breastfeeding

  • Emotional support

Customized care with attention to the new situation, taking time to support are core elements of my work as a midwife.

I work as a conventional midwife, if you have a Belgian health insurance fund I will settle the bill with the health insurance company immediately. If not, you will receive a certificate of performance for reimbursement by the insurance company. I use the nomenclature rates set by the RIZIV.

I work according to the quality guidelines of the 'Good Practice' label, which allows me to ensure high-quality care.

During the first postnatal home visit, a one-time lump sum of €30 will be charged for the preparation of the electronic file and administration, use of medical materials, 24/7 accessibility and 7/7 care.

Postnatally, a kilometer allowance is charged per home visit, which is between €5 and €12 depending on your place of residence.

All additional costs will be sent by invoice the month after the performance and will be transferred by bank transfer.
